This story was brought to my attention two days ago: “State Urges Arkansas Juvenile Detention to Stop Using WRAP Restraint.” The original share came from this Facebook page: Fox16 News Photo
During this time, I have had a heated discussion with individuals who believe there is nothing wrong with this and defending their own use of such devices as employees in youth correctional facilities. Even in the comment section of the Facebook photo, there are people defending its use. This is disturbing on so many levels. It suggests that so many in our society are willing to resort to violence against children rather than learn how to properly treat them, and it’s quite disturbing that some of these individuals work in juvenile facilities.
I am going to quote the article because I have noticed in some of my much older posts that older news articles can no longer be found. I am unsure why news agencies archive old stories to never be found again, but with the possibility of this happening for such an important part of this post, I will quote the article here and give full credit to the OzarksFirst.com news page linked first above.
State Urges Arkansas Juvenile Detention to Stop Using WRAP Restraint
10/09/2014 08:19 PM10/09/2014 08:26 PM
YELL COUNTY, Ark. — The State of Arkansas is cracking down on a restraint mechanism some juvenile detainees call “torture.” It’s known as the WRAP system. According to the state, the Yell County Juvenile Detention Center used it to restrain minors at its facility for up to four hours at a time.
State Juvenile Ombudsman Scott Tanner investigates complaints within the juvenile detention system. He says several youths housed in the Yell County facility voiced concern about the WRAP, so he went to Danville to experience it himself. That’s him in the photo, which was taken in September.
In his report that followed, Tanner says the WRAP caused difficulty breathing and increased anxiety. He also says it presents a risk for head injury and violates state standards, which say any placement of juveniles must be therapeutic and not punitive.
In the report, Tanner also mentions his interviews with juvenile detainees. He says their descriptions of the WRAP were consistent: “It is torture. This should not happen to kids.” Tanner says the juveniles told him the restraint was additionally humiliating and traumatizing because they were restrained in the wrap in front of other detainees.
Tanner writes the following in his report, filed September 18: “I believe the manner in which the WRAP restraint is being used in your center creates significant liability. This is magnified by deficiencies in both policy and documentation. Based on my own experience in this restraint and interviews of youth similarly restrained, it is my opinion that the use of the WRAP restraint on youth is inappropriate.”
Tanner requests Yell County ban the WRAP and asks that DHS prohibit it across the state. In the report, he also mentions that Yell County needs to revise its policies and procedures surrounding situations where a juvenile may be a danger to themselves or others.
Following that report, the Arkansas Department of Human Services and the Division of Youth Services sent a cease and desist letter to Yell County. In that letter, dated September 29, DHS calls the WRAP “highly controversial and potentially dangerous” and directs Yell County to stop all use of the WRAP immediately. It also asks that Yell County provide a “corrective action plan” within 30 days to address state code violations and to ensure it complies completely with state juvenile detention standards.
Through the Freedom of Information Act, KARK obtained documents showing the Yell County sheriff has instructed his staff to comply with the state.
Tanner says juvenile detention centers in Benton and Washington Counties also use a variation of the WRAP, but he says they both use a different helmet and only use the WRAP as a last resort in extreme situations. KARK reached out to both of those facilities to learn more, but have not yet heard back.

There is never any reason to restrain any child in this fashion. After researching multiple detention centers in Arkansas, I learned that this particular detention center is the only such facility to use this device. It, also, has a history of abuse complaints. It concerns me that these children (and they are still children) are not being properly monitored by outside interests for their health and safety, and that the staff is not being properly supervised. What is clear to me is that these individuals have never received proper training, including psychological training and perhaps even psychological evaluation. Every facility in the country that works with troubled minors should require a thorough psychological evaluation of its employees, a thorough background check into not only their job and criminal histories but their personal ives, and a responsible degree of child psychology training.
This is child abuse. There is no mistaking what we are seeing here in the images of the investigator. If this were to happen in an adult prison system, society would be demanding charges filed against the warden and guards responsible for inhumane treatment and torture not seen since the early days of psychiatric institutions.
Bottom line is that these adults were never properly trained. In fact, anyone who thinks this is an acceptable way to handle even a violent child has never had proper psychological training and doesn’t have the patience to be in this position. It is an unfortunate fact that most employees in juvenile correction facilities have never undergone any form of psychological testing on themselves or have had to learn any form of child psychology. From what I’ve seen in my years dealing with children who were abused in such facilities, a good many employees only work there for the position it gives them to abuse children. The arrest rate is alarmingly high.
Imagine for a minute that these children survived horrific abuse at home, which is a large percentage of why they act out violently. Forcing them into this disgusting device is only twisting their minds more and pushing them over that edge we see in serial killers and serial rapists. Abusing a child who is already violent further deteriorates their mental health.
Imagine what this device is used for by those adults who aren’t screened prior to being hired. Just imagine.
I know full well that these people in this position are using these devices for their own sick gratification. There is no LOGICAL reason to use these things on a CHILD. I find it bizarre that reasonably intelligent people cannot grasp the implications of an ADULT feeling it necessary to restrain a CHILD this way. I’m not saying these kids are little angels and delicate darlings. I’m saying that this device and anything like it isn’t to help the child. It’s for the gratification of the adult who wants to feel good about hurting anyone who dares disrespect them and is weaker than them.
Any child who has reached this stage of violence did not start out like this. When kids are sent to these facilities, it is to 1. punish them for breaking the law and 2. council them so they can turn their lives around and become productive members of society, hopefully turning them onto the right path before they become career criminals. It is an unfortunate fact, however, that true counseling is very rarely received by these children and they do, statistically speaking, continue lives of crime and evolve into much more dangerous individuals.
Juvenile correction facilities are some of the worst run criminal detention centers in the country. No one monitors the staff. No one pays attention to what is happening to the children behind those doors. These kids are written off before they even have a chance to prove they can do better. They are given the mentality that jail is their only future.
I have seen children with obvious mental disabilities sent to these places instead of a hospital. I don’t mean Autism. I mean serious psychological illnesses that require serious treatment. They are treated, instead, like unruly animals. They are treated like 30 year old career felons. They are restrained like this by an unprofessional staff that doesn’t know how to handle them because they never received the training to do so and because the state would rather sweep away these children as criminals rather than put them into an institution and admitting there is a problem.
I haven’t even mentioned the face drawn on the mask. This is clearly a purposefully cruel humiliation tactic. What trained professional would do that to a child or any mentally unstable person? NONE. And therein lies your answer.
It would seem the entire county of Yell, AK needs monitoring. I find it troubling that the Sheriff’s Department overseeing the Yell Juvenile Detention Center has had its share of child abuse lawsuits. This is one such abuse, and these are the people assigned to protect troubled children: Yell County Officers Break Arm of Child In Their Custody.
I am happy to report that this torture device has been removed from the Yell Juvenile Detention Center due to the investigation by the youth ombudsman; however, I sincerely hope this facility continues to be monitored. Just because they say they won’t use it, doesn’t mean they truly won’t. It required a certain depravity to implement this device in the first place. Although the director has been replaced, the rest of the staff has remained. This concerns me.
The following is a PDF of the letters between Sheriff Bill Gilkey, Yell County Sheriff, and Kristi Padgett, Director of Yell County Juvenile Detention Center.
Vanessa Williams has come forward to speak about molestation and its impact on young girls. It wasn’t a long testimonial, but its message is undeniable. Below is a summary of what she said on Oprah’s Master Class. At the bottom of the article is the video of her complete interview. It’s short (2 minutes) and makes so many valuable points.

Vanessa Williams Opens Up About Being Molested As a Child
By Lauren Turner
Actress Vanessa Williams, 51, is opening up about being molested by an older girl.
In an appearance on Oprah’s Master Class, the former Miss America said her molestation by an older family friend, made her “more sexually promiscuous and more curious at a younger age than I should’ve been.”
The summer before fifth grade, Williams went to California with family for the first time. While there, she stayed with a family friend and was introduced to their then 18-year-old daughter. She described the girl as being “one of the cool girls” who “made you feel like you were a grown up.”
When the girl came into Williams’ room one right, what was once admiration, took a new turn. “She told me to lie down on the floor,” says Williams. “She took my bottoms of and she told me to be quiet, and she went down on me. And at 10 years old, I had no idea what it was, but I knew it felt good and I knew I shouldn’t be saying anything…I knew it felt good, but it was also something that I knew wasn’t supposed to be happening.”
This conflicted feeling stuck with Williams, long after that night. But because of family drama surrounding the death of her father’s brother, Williams thought it wasn’t the right time to say anything. Her molestation left her with years of shame and guilt.
“At that young age, having that happen to you, in your body, it awakens your sexuality at an age that it shouldn’t be awakened,” she said. “I think that had that not happened in my life, and I had an opportunity to have a normal courtship with a boyfriend at 16 or whatever, and have your normal first kiss, you know, there wouldn’t have been that shame that was kind of always haunting me.”
1. Sexual abuse is not only committed by adults.
2. Sexual abuse is not only a crime committed by men.
3. Sexual abuse creates sexuality in young children when they shouldn’t be sexually active.
4. Sexual abuse makes children become mature in ways they shouldn’t have to, including shouldering the burden of their abuse for the sake others.
The issue of belonging is something used by bullies at school, members of gangs, and pedophiles grooming their prey. It starts with little things: “If you want to be cool like me, you’ll smoke this/steal this/say this.” In Vanessa’s case, the 18 year old abuser introduced her to a world of free will and no consequences, smoking cigarettes and being adored by the in-crowd. By the time she came into Vanessa’s room, she had the 10 year old fawning all over her, eager to please and eager to be like her. She looked up to this older girl and didn’t know how to handle the heartbreak mixed with something her body told her felt good. She chose to remain silent while her mind tried to sort through the hurt and confusion. It’s grooming and it’s what predators do all the time. We are quick to recognize it and speak out about it when it comes to bullying in school now, but we still say nothing when it comes to sexual predation. It’s too uncomfortable, so we choose the safety of our bubble instead of protecting potential victims.
Had this been an 18 year old boy, there would be no question about the assault. Had this even been two adults, we would very quickly recognize that it was unwanted sex.
Pedophiles and sexual predators would have us believe that the pleasure she felt means children enjoy sex. Understand that these are the same people who believe (and have stated publicly in interviews and in court) that a screaming infant and crying child is having an orgasm, not in pain. For a 10 year old, yes, oral sex would have a feeling of pleasure to the body because it was not intrusive, but the mind has a right to be willing, and a 10 year old’s mind is never willing. Children become confused and afraid because while their body wanted it, their mind did not. They become ashamed and feel that their body’s response means they “asked for it.” Once an abuser has a child in turmoil over the first assault, they own their mind and body. They make them feel it was their fault and if they don’t let them do it again, they threaten that everyone will find out and blame the child.
Sexual abuse is never confined to an assault on the body. It is never restricted to only sexual chaos. A victim is suddenly burdened with what to do with what just happened. Very often, there are others the victim has to think about when deciding on whether or not to tell. Who will it hurt if they tell? Whose lives will the secret impact? Often times, adult rape victims are faced with this painfully difficult situation and must remain silent, at least for the time being. Imagine a child in such a situation. Imagine a child needing to tell but watching those around her dealing with other tragedies. Imagine being a child and choosing to bury your pain so others don’t have another burden to deal with. How fair is it for us to expect such maturity from a child? Such self-sacrifice from a child who just experienced a painful and terrifying event? And yet, children do it every day.
Child victims of sexual abuse, whether it be once or many times, will never be the same or have the kind of life “normal” people have. They will always feel as if it’s wrong to enjoy sex, will always feel as if they are sluts if they instigate sex, will always wonder what it might have been to experience their first time when THEY were ready and when THEY wanted to and with someone they loved. There will always be a void that occasionally fills itself with guilt, shame, regret, despair, and longing for what they will never have because it was stolen along with their childhood.
When you want to feel sorry for pedophiles, consider how much suffering they willingly and knowingly inflicted onto their victims who will never have the beautiful memories you have and will be forever haunted about their first time.
Sometimes, someone comes along who I can feel has had an exceptionally valuable life, one that can and may someday benefit this world. There was always a kind of light from her that touched something in me, and now I know it was because she is a survivor with a beautiful soul. She chose not to let her experience define her, learned from the mistakes it caused, and moved on from it all. Now, she is speaking up and speaking out for all of those who can’t. Never give up. Never let them win.
So, you’re looking at the headlines online and discover “ZOMG!!!1!!1! Ricky Martin is Gay!” And while you sit in your chair Twittering about his revelation that was really none of your business to begin with, passing judgments on him for not being your idea of “decent” or maybe crushing your school girl fantasies, or even praising him for “coming out” as though it’s his greatest achievement…, he and his foundation are rescuing sexually exploited children and alerting the world to child prostitution and other forms of child abuse and neglect.
Oh, but his sexuality is much more blog-worthy. Much more headline worthy. Much more deserving of your time and energy. Why? Because most would rather insult, ridicule, judge, and take advantage of than look at the positive anyone does – even when the positive involves saving children being raped, beaten, malnourished, and sold into prostitution because those things just aren’t as fun to talk about.
News flash, sunshine: Being raped and having no one give a damn is no fun for a child.
This country and this world need a new set of priorities. When we choose to gossip about the sexuality and fashion sense of a celebrity and ignore their efforts to rescue children – the life force of our species’ future – we are sending out an undeniably clear message that we don’t care about what happens to kids.
I have seen images of child rape that keep me awake many nights. These children don’t care if their rescuer is gay or straight, wears Wal Mart or Prada, drives a BMW or Chevy. They just want someone to save them. Anyone. The pleading in their eyes, the tears of pain and confusion over the betrayal by those who are supposed to love them, the anguish in their voices crying out for someone to save them should far outweigh any other issue you have with that person who stands up to meet that challenge. Especially when the most you can do is sit on your ass blogging about what you see as that hero’s flaws. Those of you guilty of such abhorrent behavior can either waste away in your wretched existence or answer the pleas of suffering children who don’t care what you look like or what imperfections others see in you. They just need someone to care and stop the pain.
Thank you, Ricky Martin, for ALL you do in this cause. You are a much greater person than anyone who can only see you with shallow minds and cold, apathetic hearts.
REACT. IT’S TIME.
CHILD TRAFFICKING The best available estimate is that 1.2 million children are trafficked worldwide every year for exploitation purposes such as forced labor, commercial sexual exploitation, prostitution and servitude, among other forms of slavery.
BIRTH REGISTRATION Every year over 50 million children begin a life with no access to the most basic human rights. They have no identity; they are invisible.
VIOLENCE AGAINST CHILDREN Worldwide, an estimated 40 million children under the age of 15 suffer from violence, abuse and neglect.
EDUCATION Nearly 115 million children are out of school. Globally, some 54% of the children out of primary school are girls.
HEALTH More than 10 million children under the age of five die each year. Two thirds of both neonatal and young child deaths – every year, over six million of those deaths – can be prevented.

Even Whoopi Goldberg, victim of childhood rape by a family member, says it wasn’t “rape-rape” when then 44 year old Roman Polanski drugged and forced vaginal and anal sex on a 13 year old girl. It wasn’t “rape-rape,” though, because we can all consent to sex when we’re drugged. Age of consent laws? Oh, pish posh! Don’t be a prude! As long as it doesn’t cause physical harm – and we all know anal sex on children could never cause physical harm – and the child is too drugged and terrified to fight back, it’s all good! And don’t forget that “No” always means “Yes!” as well as “Anal, please!”
As much sarcasm as the last paragraph contained, this is precisely the mindset child rapists and child rapist supporters want you to have. When people who claim to abhor child rape call anti-pedophiles prudes and morality police, they are effectively saying child rape is acceptable. It’s called comparison and we all learned about opposites and comparisons in grade school. If you are not one of two, then you must be the other. If you are not under a table, then you must be over it. If you are not blind, then you must be able to see. If you are for child rapists, then you must be against laws that condemn them. How difficult is it for anyone to not see such obvious logic?
I would think most people know who Roman Polanski is and what the big deal is over his escape from US jurisdiction for the past 30+ years. If you don’t, here are some links for you. In March 1977, Polanski vaginally and anally raped a drugged and drunk 13 year old girl in the home of Jack Nicholson.
Here is the testimony of Samantha Jane Gailey, the girl he RAPED. After reading it, you’ll be completely shocked and disgusted ANYONE would have the balls to support this sick bastard.
In a nutshell: Over the course of several visits, Polanski groomed Samantha and her mother by convincing them he would help her with photo shots like those he published in magazines, like Vogue. During this time and without her mother’s knowledge, he talked her out of her clothes for some child pornography.
On the day of the assault, he had given her champagne to “pose” with for pictures when they were at Jack Nicholson’s house, and would get her to take sip after sip for the pictures. By the time he got her to take the pill, she describes herself as “pretty drunk” from the champagne he had her drink from not only her glass but his – for the “pictures.”
At some point, he talked her into getting into the jacuzzi naked, again “for pictures.” This time, though, he went to the bathroom and emerged naked, then climbed into the jacuzzi. She tried to move away and told him she had to go. She even tried to say she had asthma when he tried to get her to go to him in the deeper end, where the water was so high he had to conveniently hold her up.
When she finally made it back inside the house, she told him she wanted to go home to get her asthma medicine. She had lied about the asthma and according to her testimony, the lie and asking to go home was because she was “afraid” of him. When she sat on the couch to wait for him to take her home, he asked if she was okay and she told him she wasn’t and wanted to go. His response was to kiss her even when she pushed him away and told him to stop.
So far, Hollywood, this isn’t sounding like a consensual rendezvous!
She told him she wanted to go home and his response? Forcing her panties off and forcing oral sex on her. She tried to push him away and begged for him to take her home, but she couldn’t fight back very well because she was “dizzy” from the Quaalude and champagne he plied her with all afternoon. He, then, forced himself into her. She told him, “No,” but he didn’t stop and she was too afraid to do anymore because she was alone with him. During this time, he questioned her about her period and if she was on the pill.
A 13 year old girl alone, drugged, drunk and begging him to stop, and his primary concern was getting her pregnant. Some hero you have there, Hollywood!
While this drugged, drunk, pleading 13 year old being interrogated about birth control was being raped vaginally, Hollywood’s angel asked if she wanted him to do anal. She said no. He spread her legs higher and did it, anyway.
Am I the only person here who has yet to see “consensual sex”? Oh, excuse me .. Am I the only person here who sees this as “RAPE-RAPE”?!
Angelica Huston was there when Polanski and the girl arrived but she left shortly after. She came back just as he was anally RAPING Samantha, who tried to put her panties on but was stopped by Polanski, who continued anally RAPING her until he orgasmed. She went to the bathroom and got dressed, then left the room even though he told her not to. He made her wait for a while in the car crying while he did who-knows-what inside. Then he complimented her on the great sex!
Angelica Huston was the person who reported the crime, though she didn’t think he was a bad man, just unhappy. Kudos to her for reporting, backhand to her for being such a sympathetic dumbass. Or maybe she’s just got a guilty conscience, as she should. Who could listen to a child being anally raped and then report the crime after? You’re no hero, Angelica, for reporting to clear your dirty conscience!
So, Polanski ran to Sweden and France to avoid prosecution. Samantha was awarded $500,000 to shut her up and has since begged for this to be over, for them to just let it go because her family is being stalked and hounded by paparazzi and his celebrity friends. Of course, his celebrity nutjob friends are taking this as a sign she was never hurt and it’s A-OK to rape 13 year olds.
Ready to get even angrier? Here is a sentence from the petition:
“His arrest follows an American arrest warrant dating from 1978 against the filmmaker, in a case of morals.”
Morals! Yes, it’s all based upon morally staunch American mentality that we consider it a crime to drug a child and have sex with them even when they are begging it to stop and pleading to go home to their mom.
What is going on in this country? Why are we being led down a path of accepting child rape and molestation? We bow to sexually deviant Europeans who call us prudish and afraid of sex by loosening up our laws on nude beaches – which have started allowing nude children, taking discussions on lowering AOC laws seriously, allow bills to reach the floor that would permit pedophilia, allow sexual predators their own outspoken groups, which hand out pamphlets “educating” us on the “beauty” of sex with children, arguing against laws banning convicted child rapists/sex offenders from living near playgrounds and schools, and on and on and on ……
At one time, child rape was something our country demonized third world countries for, like Andrew Vachss’ Don’t Buy Thai campaign. We now rally against Islamic laws that allow rape of children and young boys to avoid going to hell for adultry. We make movies and cry out against the victimized child soldiers of South Africa. Yet, it is now okay in America (we all know it is in France and the homeland of Lindsay Ashford) for children to be the sexual toys of adults.
Say that over and over out loud and try to find logic in it. “It is okay for children to be sex toys of adults. It is okay for children to be sex toys of adults. It is okay for children to be sex toys of adults. It is okay for children to be sex toys of adults.” How do those words make you feel? And why are you staying silent about it?!
This is what FBI agent, Bob Hamer – who infiltrated NAMBLA for 3 years, had to say about Polanski and our acceptance of his assault:
J.R. Head: Bob, you spent a lot of time and energy taking down the folks at NAMBLA. As a father, hell, as a human being, I’d like to thank you for that. Right now, though, I’m trying to look at the bigger picture. What are your thoughts about these folks on the periphery of such activity, the facilitators and enablers of sex with children?
Bob Hamer: Wow! No softball questions from you right out of the chute.
JRH: Not today.
BH: Well, I have never met a capitalist pacifist who owned gun store. I believe fundamentally, the pacifist does not want to encourage what he perceives as a potential for violence, even if it might be profitable to own a gun store. I’m a gun owner so don’t jump on me for that illustration but those I met while working undercover who helped facilitate sex with children saw nothing wrong with what they believed to be “consensual” sex with a child. In fact, most believed an “enlightened” society would see the benefits of encouraging sex between consenting individuals of any age. No one satisfactorily identified to me what those benefits were but “boy-lovers” as NAMBLA members refer to themselves often cite the ancient Greeks as an enlightened society. The travel agent had no objection to putting together overseas trips even though he claimed not to be sexually attracted to boys.
JRH: So, it was about the money?
BH: Certainly there was a profit motive for him but he saw nothing wrong with men having sex with boys and told me so. Had he found the actions abhorrent I would hope he would never facilitate such conduct.
A Chicago psychologist we arrested who had a PhD told me of seeing a five-year-old operating out of a boy-bar in Thailand. The psychologist said he did not have sex with that particular boy because the child “didn’t do anything for me, but I can’t be…a hypocrite and say, you know, ‘don’t do that…’” The psychologist told me his age of preference was “ten to twelve” and saw nothing wrong with his conduct. In fact, he bragged about his conquests.
JRH: So, in his mind, having sex with kids is okay but God forbid he gets called a hypocrite. Those are some messed up priorities, man. Give me some info on NAMBLA. What’s their story?
BH: NAMBLA was formed in 1978. Ostensibly its purpose was to abolish age-of-consent laws. As my three-year infiltration demonstrated, the organization made no effort whatsoever to change the law. Its sole purpose was to allow like-minded men, sexually attracted to boys, to legally congregate under the protection of the 1st Amendment. Even their definition of “consensual” differed from mine and I hope all of our readers. They essentially defined “consensual” as “not bringing physical harm.” I sat through a discussion where men believed it permissible to have oral sex with an eighteen-month-old boy as long as the boy wasn’t physically harmed.
JRH: You’re kidding me. How the hell do they justify that?
BH: They justified the action because a child, while exploring his own body, might like the gentle touch of fondling himself. Since the men believed they were in essence bringing pleasure to the child, their actions were permissible, even proper. When that is your worldview, when you support men who believe those actions to be proper, it is easy to justify a lot of actions the rest of society deems illegal, even evil.
Most NAMBLA members with whom I interacted believe the boy-lover philosophy will be mainstreamed within their lifetimes. I would have never thought that even remotely possible until recently.
JRH: That’s the vibe I’ve been getting lately, too. While reading “The Last Undercover,” I was filled with feelings of revulsion and anger about what these predators do. I was especially disturbed to hear how they “profile” their potential prey and engage in the “grooming” of the target and the target’s family. On the other hand, an understanding that the vast majority of people in the country would feel the same way about it comforted me. However, the Polanski situation has kind of made me reevaluate my worldview. Is the moral outrage over having sex with children eroding before our very eyes?
BH: After investigating organized crime, drugs, terrorism, and child exploitation for two and a half decades, little shocks me but I am appalled at the Roman Polanski apologists. Since when does being a “brilliant, fantastic genius” excuse anyone from heinous criminal conduct? He admitted guilt. He drugged, raped, and sodomized a thirteen-year-old girl. Are we to excuse him only because his talent brought him riches and therefore he was wealthy enough to flee punishment? Does Hollywood creativity allow one an alternative moral universe?
Whoopi Goldberg said on The View it wasn’t “rape-rape.” No, it was non-consensual anal intercourse of a child. Are we so perverted we will excuse such conduct because the perpetrator is an “artist?” How can any parent or a person with a conscience condone such behavior? Imagine the outrage of these same apologists had this been a TV evangelist or a priest.
I admire the victim who has forgiven Polanski but criminal charges are brought by the state. A criminal indictment does not read “victim vs. defendant.” It is the state or the federal government versus the accused. Society is harmed by criminal conduct. Apparently Polanski’s harm was greater than I first thought and not just to the child victim. It has infected a certain segment of society which condones the behavior and believes he should go unpunished. Read the charges! Read his admissions! He deserves to be punished.
Polanski’s status as a Holocaust survivor has been cited as a reason excusing his criminal actions. As horrible as that experience must have been I can’t help but remember another survivor, Tibor Rubin. He wanted to pay back America for liberating him from the Mauthausen concentration camp in May 1945. Rubin joined the Army, fought in Korea, and was awarded the Medal of Honor.
JRH: I’ve met Mr. Rubin. He struck me as an extremely humble and unassuming man. He has an incredible story and I encourage my readers to look him up on the web. That being said, Polanski is just one part of this. The folks at ACORN who turned a blind eye to what they believed to be a brothel for child prostitutes also bothered me. Now, I’m hearing about this Jennings fellow. Do you have any insight into that?
BH: Kevin Jennings is President Obama’s Assistant Deputy Secretary of the Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools at the U.S. Department of Education. His history and beliefs are well documented in the numerous books he has authored and edited. There is some dispute as to the legality of his conduct while working as a teacher but by Jennings’ own admission the only counseling he gave a male high school student, who admitted having sex with a man he met in a public restroom, was to use a condom. Jennings also has high praise for Harry Hay. If NAMBLA had a Hall of Fame, Hay would be a member. Hay fought for NAMBLA’s inclusion in the International Lesbian and Gay Association and once carried a sign proclaiming “NAMBLA Walks With Me.” Although Hay died before I was invited to attend any of NAMBLA’s secret, underground meetings, Hay was a featured speaker at several NAMBLA conferences and at forums on man/boy love. When members of the Administration admit to admiring a NAMBLA icon it gives me cause for concern and is at the very least a reason for further inquiry.
JRH: I agree. Do you feel like this is part of an inevitable coarsening of society in regards to the sexualization of children?
BH: What struck me about NAMBLA was how many men I encountered were high functioning members of our society…doctors, lawyers, ministers, teachers. Yet these men looked upon boys as sexual objects and had no desire to change their behavior. In the case of Polanski, “artists” are apologists for child rape. As to ACORN, let me say I have the highest regard for the work of James O’Keefe and Hannah Giles. The ACORN tapes reinforce the idea that a segment of this society is unable to discern evil. How can you label oral sex on infants or rape of a thirteen-year-old girl or promoting childhood prostitution as anything but evil? We as a society must remain vigilant and maintain our moral compass. I fear too many have lost theirs or never had one.

If you are in the fight against child abuse but do not know the causes, affects, preventative measures of it, especially CSA, the answer is, “Not very.”
Can you answer these questions? They are easy for those of us actively working to end child abuse and defend/protect children who have been abused or can become targets for abuse:
1. What is Alice Day and when is it?
2. When is IMBLD (International Man Boy Love Day)?
3. How are Alice Day and IMBLD “celebrated”?
4. What is “grooming” and is it just used on children?
5. True or False: A bill to legalize pedophilia has already gone to the floor, receiving enough “yes” votes to rally childrens rights activists nationwide to step up efforts to expose the truth behind the pedo-supporters’ lies.
6. Do public libraries support child pornography?
7. What is NAMBLA?
8. Is a child in danger from a sexual predator he or she will never meet?
9. Do sexual predators of minors really frequent sites set up for children? (such as Webkins, Littlest Pet Shop, Barbie, Disney, etc…)
10. Are previously abused children better targets for predators, even if the prior abuse was non-sexual?
11. True or False: Child abusers are always adults.
12. Is a child safe from further abuse if their abuser or a predator knows they are being watched over by LE or any other group, official or voluntary?
13. Do sexual predators network online in groups and message boards?
14. Do mothers rape or otherwise sexually abuse their children, or is it just fathers and step fathers?
15. Do sexual predators always assault one specific age group?
16. Will a prior victim of abuse come forward if they are abused again, even if they won the case against their previous abuser?
17. Is it proper to promise a victimized child they will never be hurt again?
18. Can sexual predators of children be cured?
19. What are the classifications of the different age of attractions (AOA)?
20. Why should you know about CSA and perpetrators of CSA if the child you care for was the victim of non-sexual abuse?
If you cannot answer these questions accurately and completely, you cannot understand the war on child abuse to the extent necessary to defend children. There are resources on my site and any special crimes department has such information free to the public and available in the form of group presentations.
